Second post about London !

Today I introduce to you three places with which it is associated London - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the red telephone boxes.
1. When we were in London we visited the Clock Tower of Westminster Palace.

Big Ben - the name of the bell in the tower is located. The whole tower called St. Stephen's Tower.

The construction of the neo-Gothic tower of the Palace was taken after a fire in 1834. The bell weighs 13 tons. Time is the biggest clock in the UK. Each disc diameter is 7.5 m, tips are 4.25
m length. Every quarter of an hour minted melody modeled on that of the bell of St Mary's Church (University Church) in Cambridge.

2.Buckingham Palace

The official residence of the British monarch. The world's largest royal palace is still performing its original function. The official London residence of the queen. The square before the palace since 1913 is a statue of Queen Victoria.

When we arrived in front of Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard was taking place. It lasted 30 minutes.

Royal banner hanging on the full amount when the monarch resides in the palace, and when he leaves, the banner is removed. After the death of Diana Elizabeth II introduced a new habit, the derogation from the previous protocol: when she left the palace to go to the funeral of Diana, royal banner was removed (in accordance with the protocol), and in its place (this is new) raised the British flag, the Union Jack, and lowered to half mast. Since then, following the death of a member of the royal family at the Palace raises and lowers the Union Jack at half mast.

Since the fire in the royal castle at Windsor in 1992, some of Buckingham Palace is available for a fee to the public. In August and September, during the holidays queen, you can visit Buckingham apartments. Tickets cost about 20 pounds.

3. Red telephone boxes. The images in these telephone booths for us were just taking a break from sightseeing in London :).

It's a little symbol of England. On postcards, photographs and films, we can see the London telephone booths.

Okay, that's it for today. I hope you like it. ^.^
